Chili Pepper and Health Benefits

Scientific Name : Capsicum Annum

Chilli, chile or chili pepper is one on the most popular spices in the
world. It is a perennial shrub with a woody stem, which can reach a
meter in height and bears white flowers. The fruit pod contains
numerous seeds that clings around the central placenta. The seeds are
tiny, circular and flat with white or cream color. The fruit pod has
different shape, size, color and pungency.

Red chilies are loaded with beta-carotene. While red and green chilies
are a good source of Vitamin C, which is known as an antioxidant.
Although people take a limited quantity of chili, it still provides a
significant  amount of Vitamin C.

The chili may promote health and help prevent diseases because it
contains plant derived chemical compounds. The capsaicin, capsanthin
and capsorubin give burn in chili.

Capsaicin has antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antidiabetic and
analgesic properties.  It acts as an antioxidant and an
anti-inflammatory agent.

Treat pain, arthritis and painful joints. Capsaicin is used as a
topical pain reliever. Hotter variety of chili may reduce inflammation
and discomfort because it can stimulate blood flow in the affected
area.


Psoriasis. According to study, it may reduce itching, redness, scaling

Anti-Cancer. Capsaicin may encourage apoptosis and growth arrest on
cancer cells.


Cardiovascular Benefits. According to research it may reduce the risk
of heart disease because it protects the fats in our blood against
free radical damage.

Congestion Reliever. It may aid stuffy nose and help people breath
easier. It can as well prevent sinus infections, colds and sore
throat.

Chili pepper when added in chicken soup may help treat bronchitis,
colds and sinusitis.

disease. It is able to rebuild stomach tissue and helps control
bleeding.
