Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 Review

The S3 Mini inherited the name and the look of Samsung Galaxy S3. This
smaller version of S3 has inferior technical specifications, but is
understandable for the price. Still worth to give it a try.

Design

Dimensions 4.79 x 2.48 x 0.39 inch
Weight 111.5g

The Mini looks superb and more convenient to hold. The curved rear
plate ensures that it will sit right in the hand.

The Mini is a compact rendition of the S3. Its smaller built makes the
buttons more accessible in one hand.

Bad thing is the micro-sd slot is not pop-in, instead it is located
behind the battery  which is so inconvenient.

Screen/Display

4" Super Amoled Capacitive Touch Screen (16M Color, 233 PPI)

The display is sufficient for a pleasant experience on what is being
shown. The viewing angles are adequate. The images and videos are good
enough for casual viewing.

The Mini offers great screen brightness, thanks to the inbuilt light sensor.

Bad thing is the combination of the optimal Amoled screen and the
greatness of the colours takes the images away from  natural.

Camera

Primary  5 MP
Secondary  VGA

It features auto focus and LED flash. It's pretty enough to provide a
decent picture. The color looks clear.

It's just not good enough to drop the front camera to VGA resolution.

Operating system

Android OS v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean OS) with TouchWiz UI

SoC ST-Ericsson U8420

CPU 1 GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9

GPU ARM Mali-400MP (single-core)

Memory 1 GB RAM

Storage 8 GB or 16 GB flash memory

Removable storage microSD up to 32 GB

Speed

The Mini was left out with some features compared to S3 because of the
processor, memory and screen size.

The Mini responds well to surfing the net. Its pretty easy to
navigate the internal menu. The TouchWiz runs good.

Limitations are felt in loading applications and games.

Connectivity

HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0+LE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, DLNA, Kies Air,USB 2.0
High-Speed, NFC (NFC version only, GT-I8190MBNDBT)

Other Wi-Fi hotspot, Google Play, Social Hub, Readers Hub and Game Hub.

The Mini holds on to network connectivity pretty well.

Battery

1500 mAh

The battery can last through moderate to heavy use. The decent battery
life is due to the dual core processor and the small screen, which are
not that power hungry.

The Mini is not really the pocket version of S3 because of the
mediocre processor, less screen resolution and VGA camera,
inferiorities. But if you're looking for an stylish phone which is
more compact and more affordable, this phone can be great to you.
